Outdoor Living Is the Point of Palmer Ranch

People choose Palmer Ranch for the outside: the Legacy Trail running the length of the community, preserve and lake views behind half the home sites, Oscar Scherer State Park at the south end, and Siesta Key beaches fifteen minutes away. Yet plenty of homes here still funnel all outdoor time through a screened lanai and a strip of pavers. A well-designed deck changes how the back of the house works — a raised platform that finally takes advantage of a lake view in Turtle Rock, a shaded grilling deck off a Stoneybrook kitchen, or a low composite sundeck extending a pool surround that has run out of room.

Alpine Exteriors designs and builds decks throughout Palmer Ranch and south Sarasota County, and we build them for this climate specifically. Ten months of strong UV, a summer of daily thunderstorms, and humid nights that never let lumber fully dry mean the difference between a deck that lasts and one that does not comes down to framing details you cannot see from a lounge chair.

Built for Sarasota Sun, Rain, and Review Boards

For most Palmer Ranch projects we recommend composite or PVC decking on pressure-treated framing. Modern composite boards resist fading under Florida sun, will not splinter around bare feet and pool water, and never need staining — a real consideration when every May-through-October weekend brings an afternoon storm. Homeowners who prefer real wood get species recommendations and finishing schedules honest enough to keep them ahead of the maintenance instead of surprised by it.

Every deck we build in this community includes:

  • Engineered footings and framing sized for Florida code and wind uplift requirements
  • Stainless or coated fasteners and hidden-clip systems that will not corrode or back out
  • Flashing details where the deck meets the house, so the ledger never traps water against the wall
  • HOA submittal drawings for your village's architectural review, prepared by us

That last item matters here. Palmer Ranch villages review visible exterior additions, and we would rather spend a week on approvals than have you spend a year with a violation notice.

The Crew Behind the Build

We have been building exteriors on the Gulf Coast for 25 years, with more than 2,000 projects completed across the region — decks, but also the roofing and siding work that taught us exactly how water moves around a Florida house. That crossover knowledge is why our ledger flashing and post-base details tend to be more conservative than code demands. A deck is only as good as its connection points.

If you are weighing a new deck, a lanai extension, or replacing a wood platform the sun has gotten the better of, start with a free on-site estimate. We will look at grades, drainage, and sight lines, sketch options that fit both your lot and your village's rules, and give you a firm written price. The finished structure carries our 25-year workmanship warranty, so the deck you add to this house is one you will not have to think about again.
