Wood, Composite, and What We Actually Recommend
For most Lithia projects we quote two builds side by side. Pressure-treated pine remains the budget-friendly classic, and installed correctly — ground-contact rated posts, corrosion-resistant fasteners, proper joist spacing — it gives honest service as long as you keep up with sealing. Composite costs more up front but never needs staining, gives termites nothing to eat, and holds its color under Florida UV, which is why it wins the majority of our projects out here once homeowners run the ten-year math.
Framing is where decks live or die
Whatever the walking surface, the structure underneath is pressure-treated, flashed at the ledger, and joined with structural hardware rated for exterior exposure. A beautiful deck on a soft frame is a five-year deck. Across 2,000+ completed projects, the failures we get called to tear out almost always trace back to a ledger board somebody forgot to flash.
We also build the additions that make a Florida deck usable in July: pergolas for shade, screened enclosures that keep mosquitoes on their own side of the mesh, and covered sections that let you ride out an afternoon thunderstorm with a drink in hand instead of retreating indoors.
- Custom composite and wood decks — designed around pools, live oaks, and grade changes
- Pergolas and shade structures — because an unshaded deck goes unused in a Lithia summer
- Screened lanais and enclosures — bug-free evenings close to the river
- Deck repair and resurfacing — new boards and rails over a frame that is still sound
A Straight Answer Before You Spend a Dollar
Every Lithia deck begins with a free on-site estimate. We study drainage, soil, sun angles, and how the new structure will meet the house, then price real options rather than a one-size package. After twenty-five years in business, we would honestly rather talk you out of an oversized deck you will not use than sell it to you and watch it sit empty.
Once it is built, it stays our responsibility: a 25-year workmanship warranty stands behind every footing, fastener, and board we install. If you have been staring at that bare slab off Lithia Pinecrest Road thinking it could be more, we agree — let us show you what it could become.
