Decks for Lutz's Lake Country
North Hillsborough County hides more water than most Tampa-area residents realize, and Lutz sits in the middle of it — dozens of named lakes, from Lake Stemper to Bird Lake to the chain around Crystal Lake Road, most of them ringed by cypress and live oak. If you own one of the area's older ranch homes on a lake lot, odds are your backyard slopes toward water your house barely acknowledges. A well-designed deck fixes that, and building decks that thrive on these specific lots is work Alpine Exteriors knows deeply.
Lutz ground presents two engineering realities. The soil is largely sand, which drains fast but requires footings sized and seated correctly to prevent settling under concentrated post loads. And near the lakes, seasonal water tables rise close to the surface in the summer wet season, so ground-contact framing choices and hardware ratings matter more than they would on high ground. We design each deck's structure around a site visit, not a standard drawing.
