Bellingham Bay 4-Story Waterfront Project | VaproShield® WRB System + Window & Door Installation | Challenging Winter Build Near the Shipyard
Alpine Exteriors completed this high-exposure, high-challenge 4-story waterfront project on Bellingham Bay, just steps from the shipyard — delivering a full VaproShield® weather-resistive barrier (WRB) system and complete window and door installation for a private developer building a premium residential structure in one of the most wind- and weather-exposed locations in the region.
While no siding was performed on this project, Alpine Exteriors was brought in specifically for our expertise in waterproofing envelope systems and precision opening installation — critical in a waterfront setting and especially under difficult seasonal conditions.
🌊 Scope of Work:
VaproShield® WRB System:
We installed a full VaproShield® peel-and-stick WRB system, engineered to provide superior vapor permeability while maintaining an air- and watertight seal. VaproShield is a performance upgrade over traditional wraps and ideal for coastal construction zones, where moisture control is paramount and long-term durability is essential.
- Applied across all elevations and properly integrated with window and door flashings
- Rainscreen-ready system ensuring breathability and drainage for future siding phases
- Installed during challenging winter conditions — including snow, strong winds, and freezing temps
Windows & Doors:
Our team performed the installation of all window and door systems, including large-format view windows facing Bellingham Bay, weather-rated entry doors, and custom unit packages. Despite the harsh weather, all units were:
- Flashed and sealed per code and manufacturer specs
- Installed to ensure proper water shedding and long-term performance
- Aligned and anchored to prevent movement from shifting loads or high winds
🏗️ Execution & Environmental Challenges:
This project was completed during peak winter weather — with multiple snowstorms, high winds, and logistical obstacles due to the waterfront jobsite conditions. Despite these challenges, Alpine Exteriors successfully “dried-in” the entire building envelope, giving the developer peace of mind that the building was protected and ready for interior trades to continue.
✔️ This job is a strong example of Alpine’s ability to deliver under pressure, on schedule, and in extreme environments — without compromising quality or safety.
⚠️ Waterfront builds require specialized materials, detailed coordination, and experience with advanced WRB systems. Alpine Exteriors brings proven capability and technical installation knowledge to every project — even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
