Keep the Character, Lose the Rot
Our usual prescription for Palmetto's older homes is fiber cement milled in traditional profiles — smooth lap siding that reads exactly like the original wood from the sidewalk, but is immune to rot, termites, and the repaint treadmill. On homes where the historic look matters less, we offer premium vinyl systems that install economically over sound sheathing. Either way, the invisible layers get rebuilt: weather barrier, window flashing, and drainage details engineered for rain that arrives sideways when squalls run up the river.
Mid-century and newer neighborhoods have their own patterns. Block ranches off 17th Street West often need only gable, soffit, and fascia work — small jobs many contractors will not take seriously. We do, because those small rot points are where water enters block homes. And in newer communities toward Ellenton and Buckeye Road, we replace failing builder-grade materials with cladding that will actually see out a mortgage.
When restoration is the goal rather than replacement, we can work board by board — splicing in new material only where probes find decay, then priming and back-sealing every cut edge so the repair lasts as long as the surrounding original. It is slower work than a full re-side, and it is the right call on a house whose century-old fabric is worth saving.
Details that separate our installations
- Historically faithful profiles for district bungalows and farmhouses
- Rebuilt flashing and weather barrier under every square foot we install
- Corrosion-resistant fastening for homes near the river and Terra Ceia Bay
- Repair-first honesty when a wall needs patching, not replacing
The Long-Term Math
A wood exterior in Palmetto's climate wants scraping and repainting every five to eight years, forever. Quality re-cladding ends that expense in one project — and our 25-year workmanship warranty means the installation is guaranteed for longer than most owners will keep the house. With over 2,000 projects completed, we have the crew depth to handle a full Victorian re-side or a one-wall repair with the same care.
Every job begins with a free on-site estimate. We will probe the suspect boards, check behind any bulging sections, photograph what we find, and write a scope that respects both your house's history and your budget.
